About the Photographer

I really want this site to be about the landscape and the way it has been created, sculpted by the elements over time. I am merely a passing observer, an appreciator of what has happened before. The order of historical events that has made planet Earth as it is today is truly mind blowing. However, the part I am focusing on (no pun intended) is our wee corner of Scotland. One of the world`s gems. A land with so much variety in such a small chunk of space.
The Cairngorm National park, the rugged west coast and its islands is where my photographic exploration centres upon. Images are then selected for print and ultimately as fully framed art pieces. As pleasing as it is seeing one of my frames on a wall, it`s also nice to know other people enjoy our great landscape, and hope it sends a message to us all to take care of it. This is our only planet.

My main job is still carpentry, which works well alongside my Photographic endeavours; this was very useful when refurbishing the old village hall in Boat of Garten where we have our family run Art Gallery. Opened in November 2014 and currently run by my wife Mairi and I. We have many Scottish based artists displaying their work here. We have exhibitions and workshops too. If you are in the area, come and see us. You will be very welcome at The 1896 Gallery.
